The Portuguese Azores is on the Green List (from 30 August 2021)
Please see below for links for more information about PCR testing and entry requirements for the Azores.
Please ensure you follow official guidance from the UK and the Azores. Click the headings below for more information:
NOTE: It is no-longer a requirement to perform the day 6 test in the Azores but you will need a negative PCR test for entry to the Islands. Please use the translate button bottom left of screen on the link above
You may need to get a test to enter the UK when you come home. You can get tested in the Azores by paying locally for a validated PCR or lateral flow test.
Lateral flow tests are available at pharmacies (check they are validated and comply with entry restrictions to the UK). You can also ask your hotel reception to book an appointment at a local laboratory in Ponta Delgada for you: Joaquim Chaves Laboratory CLINICA DO BOM JESUS. The cost if you visit the clinic is 30 euros. The cost if they conduct the test at your hotel is 55 euros.
Laboratory “Forjaz Sampaio” in downtown Ponta Delgada perform private Covid PCR tests for approximately 90€ paid directly to the lab.
We would suggest that you make your appointment for your tests when you arrive in the Azores. Ask your hotel reception to do this for you. They will also be able to book taxi transfers for you should you need these to get to and from the lab.
Your test result must be in either English, French or Spanish. Translations will not be accepted. You must provide the original test result notification. It must include the following information:
- Your name, which should match the name on your travel documents
- Your date of birth or age;
- The result of the test;
- The date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider;
- The name of the test provider and their contact details;
- Confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR test.
