NHS COVID PASS = EU DCC (European Union Digital COVID Certificate)
The NHS digital certificate is accepted under the same conditions as the EU digital certificate for entry to the Azores. The UK linked with the EU Gateway on 1 November 2021 enabling mutual verification of COVID-19 certificates between the UK and the EU. More information here
UK guests who are fully vaccinated can enter the Azores and will get their NHS Covid Pass scanned at the airport. Guests who do not have the NHS digital certificate are required to carry out a pre-departure test.

My Safe Azores – no longer in use
We have received confirmation from our partners in the Azores and SATA Azorean Airlines that this online form (previously required for entry to the Azores) is no-longer in use from April 2022. You may still be required to fill in a passenger locator form for entry to the Portuguese mainland

Tests in the Azores
You can get tested in the Azores by paying locally for a validated PCR or lateral flow test. Lateral flow tests are available at pharmacies (check they are validated and comply with entry restrictions to the UK). You can also ask your hotel reception to book an appointment at a local laboratory in Ponta Delgada for you: Joaquim Chaves Laboratory CLINICA DO BOM JESUS. The cost if you visit the clinic is 30 euros. The cost if they conduct the test at your hotel is 55 euros. Laboratory “Forjaz Sampaio” in downtown Ponta Delgada perform private Covid PCR tests for approximately 90€ paid directly to the lab. We would suggest that you make your appointment for your tests when you arrive in the Azores. Ask your hotel reception to do this for you. They will also be able to book taxi transfers for you should you need these to get to and from the lab
- Your name, which should match the name on your travel documents
- Your date of birth or age;
- The result of the test;
- The date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider;
- The name of the test provider and their contact details;
- Confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR test.
Testing positive for Covid 19 in the Azores
Should you test positive for Covid 19 in the Azores, current regulations state you must self isolate in your hotel for 5 days after which time, you are free to leave the hotel. Please ensure you are adequately insured should you need to pay extra for extending your hotel accommodation, upgrading your board basis and changing your flights. You will need to notify your insurance company immediately and get a validated test (rapid antigen/PCR) to submit with your claim.
